This is really cool, we can import our model into Poser and animate it.

First, I think you should see how looks some Poser figure in the Setup Room and observe the bone structure. Click in the Grouping Tool botton and you can see the red division of groups or body parts, use Grouping Tool window. Observe the hip, this is the main part.

IMPORTING

The figure is done in Wavefront obj format, make sure that you do not have duplicate or overlapping polygons.

Launch Poser and select Import>Wavefront obj
and check Place on the Floor.

Click in Setup Room.

Open the figure Library and select Judy Nude. Click in Change Figure and the Judy skeleton loads over our figure (Also you can build your skeleton for scratch).

Select the Translate tool and position the bones on your left side and center, select Figure>Symmetry> Right to Left.Click yes in the dialog window.

Select genitalia-bone and click Delete key.

Adjust the skeleton in the figure, use the front, back, right, left, top and bottom cameras. When you are finished, select the Main camera and fly around the figure to make sure that the skeleton is correctly placed. Check out the hands (Fig. 2 below)

Now click in the Grouping Tool button (Fig. 3).

Fig. 3

Click in Auto Group bottom.
The Group Editor window shows the list of groups or body parts (red division).
Check all of the groups to ensure that the correct polygons are assigned to each group. Make any necessary adjustments.
Surely the hip doesn't look good.

You can add more polygons/vertices to the current group with (+) selection tool.
If you accidentally select one or more wrong polygons, you can deselect them by using the Deselect tool (-). If you are in the Setup room, polygons that have been removed from a group will automatically be added to a group called NO_BONE so that you can see which polygons are unassigned and correct the problems before leaving the Setup room.
The Grouping tool (+) will remove the subject polygons from their previous group and assign them to the new group in order to ensure that no polygons belong to more than one group at a time.
Test the figure in the Pose Room.

If the figure doesn't work correctly go back to the Setup room and correct the problem. For holes, select the group and click Weld Group in the Grouping Editor. If you want add more polygons to group, select the group, now with green lines, select the polygons(+) and click Add Group.

Save the figure in New Figures Librery.

Note about textures: Using the Grouping Editor, also you can select some group and click in Assign Material botton, for assign material o texture in this zone. For example the head with another more detailed texture. After the name appears in the material list of the Material Room.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The hip doesn't look correctly, it changes to the Judy's hip:

Open the file "your_figure_name.cr2" with a text editor and make a backup of the file.

The file is located in Poser>Runtime>Library>Character>New Figures (If you saved it here or search for it).

Find the word: "woman" or "genitalia" with the text processor in the CR2 file.
You can read it:

{ name Genitalia Off
ObjFile20
Runtime:Geometries:p5NudeWoman:BLHipNoGen.obj
}

Select it and click Delete. Save.

It happens because Poser shows a hip with genitalia.

If you don't want to edit the CR2 file, you should select everytime "No Genitalia", in the Pose Room's menu.

_THE HAIR

I used the head in low resolution, Add Thickness command and I modeled the hair. After you can use the same figure's steps in Part Two (EXPORTING THE MAPPED MODEL). See below.

The texture and the transparency hair in the Material Room.
Use 1.00000 in the Transparency value (See right).

Now, your figure is a poseable Poser figure!
You can search for a free figures it in a Poseable figure.
